I really wanted to share this on here because as a class we talk about engaging the public with interactive tools. I think it is clever for Google to show this as a sort of case study on how people will use existing tools and make them their own by finding ways to utilize the technology on a very human and personal level.
This quarter we’re exploring location through narratives; what does location mean in today’s world of always on, always present digital landscape? Below are a few projects that explore location:
“We want to bring your city to life through the people that make it amazing…Every month we’ll be asking questions about your city, sharing answers and creating a new city pulse base on what’s really happening.”
“Each year at about this time, Tony and his over 2.3 million followers engage in a hunt for packages that have been hidden in 45 states around the U.S., as well as Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, the Netherlands, England and Ireland.”
More info here.
“YesYesNo collected data from several runs (mine included), plotting them in a three-dimensional scale. The graphs incorporated speed, distance and acceleration, but also color and texture.”
“…displays receipt trash found over a 48 hour blitz in Baltimore City, Maryland.”

Amazingly there is a blog for that! This blog collects stories about how creatives spend their days. You may find some of the routines familiar. They might even inspire your own rituals. Or maybe you’ll just enjoy knowing that great creators with acclaimed work were not immune to procrastination.
